Period Health, Fertility, Baby & You!

Hi All,

I have been thinking about the link between Period Health, Fertility, Baby & You and i thought it would be a good idea to write a blog for those of you wishing to have a baby.
If you are thinking of having a baby then it will be helpful to understand where your body is and period health can give some early indicators to help you with fertility.

In a nutshell , here are my top 5 points about how periods reflect fertility:

1. The amount of blood, thickness, colour and length of bleed……

The blood should be bright red, a healthy flow and last 3-7 days. If you are bleeding -3 days, then your lining may not be thick enough for implantation.

If you have darker blood, then you could have old impacted endometrium that is not shedding, meaning there is less healthy endometrium for the egg to implant on. A Fertility Massage Therapy can help with both of these problems along with castor oil packs.

2. No period at all or irregular periods……

Unless you are on the pill not having a period is a sign of something not quite right which could be a structural restriction or it could also be that you need to give yourself a better chance of making hormones by eating the right foods. A fertility massage can help with the structural imbalance.

3. Spotting……….

Spotting tends to happen just before a period or around ovulation. In some cases it can be a sign of super fertility, but in other cases, it can be a sign of either an oestrogen or progesterone insufficiency.

4. Painful periods…….

There are so many causes of painful periods, but common ones include micronutrient deficiencies (the same ones you need for good egg quality), adhesions and constriction in the pelvic area, or even tilted pelvis which prevents the womb from emptying the old lining properly, and prevents oxygen and nutrients getting to the womb area in the quantities needed for a lining that can nourish an egg.

5. PMS….

This can be a sign of certain deficiencies such as B6, B9 and B12.

A qualified specialist in Fertility and hormonal health can help you. Fertility Massage Therapy can also help greatly with Period Health, Fertility, Baby & You!

How can I benefit from Meditation ?

How can I benefit from Meditation ?
What is Meditation all about ?

Today I decided to write a blog about the many amazing benefits of meditation as many of my clients have been asking me what meditation is all about.

There are so many different ways we can meditate, it really doesn’t have to be about sitting for hours in silence which can be extremely time consuming and hard to practice in the world we live in…..and this is really why we DO need meditation .

I teach meditation classes , not just on the mindful practice that meditation is known for , but also looking at guided meditations, chakra awareness , feeling energy for physical healing , Prana  breath work ( to name but a few techniques) .

The world we live in is gettting faster and busier and we need to relearn tools and techniques to allow us to be able to cope in the world.
If we do not counterbalance this fast pace of life that we all live in then we become seriously unbalanced which has a huge effect on our emotional and physical health….by which time it becomes then a colossal task to bring back that balance and it may take us years to overcome this obstacle.

I’m sure you have all heard many times that prevention is better than the cure and if we can approach meditation with this mindset then we are far more likely to achieve a sense of peace and lasting balance with ease.

Did you know that just 20 minutes of meditation nourishes your body in the same way that 4 hours of good sleep does…..so just 10 minutes = 2 hours of sleep.
So if you struggle to sleep then it’s a no brainer …..meditate!

Furthermore, it is relevant to note that  meditation also helps you to achieve a much better quality of sleep. So here is a list of some of the further benefits meditation offers for the MIND, BODY, and SPIRIT ( ENERGY, SOUL );

     MIND BENEFITS OF MEDITATION :
~ reduces monkey chatter
~ improves concentration
~ reduces mental stress
~ refreshes and rejuvenates the mind
~ calms the mind
~ improves thought processing and clarity
~ improves ability to effectively communicate

    BODY BENEFITS OF MEDITATION:
~ reduces anxiety ( stabilises adrenal function)
~ Lowers high blood pressure
~ reduces depression ( improves serotonin)
~ increases immune function
~ reduces tension headaches
~ increases energy levels
~ improves mood swings ( balances the pituitary and increases seratonin )
~ balances pain receptors ( as oxytocin releases )
~ helps insomnia ( by balancing the pineal gland)
~ decrease muscle and joint problems as relaxation improves and stress decreases

SPIRIT / SOUL / ENERGY BENEFITS OF MEDITATION:
~ creative abilities improve
~ intuition is developed
~ overall sense of peace increased
~ anxiety decreases
~ feelings of connectedness to others increases
~ problems are dealt with easily
~ negative emotions disappear easily
~ harmony and balance is achieved
~ emotions are more balanced
~ ability to live and embrace the moment ( not living in the past or future)
~ focussed awareness
~ expanded state of Consiousness
~ peace of mind

Effortless transition from being something to merging with the infinite and recognizing yourself as an inseparable part of the whole cosmos
In a meditative state, you are in a space of vastness, calmness and joy and this is what you emit into the environment, bringing harmony to the Creation/planet.
Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. As you learn more about yourself, you’ll naturally start discovering more about yourself.
How to get meditation benefits

So in summary, to experience the benefits of meditation, regular practice is necessary and as you begin it can help if you join a class whilst you practice to share the space.
If you practice at home too …..It takes only a few minutes every day…..once you get into the practice I’m sure (like me ) you will find that meditation is the best part of your day!

So if you fancy joining our weekly meditation hangout then we begin NOVEMBER 3rd . Follow us on Facebook to book into the meditation hangout.  peaceofmindhealth

Moringa Power Balls

These Moringa Power Balls are amazing!!!!

I love making healthy alternatives to my favourite foods, and these Moringa power balls are just bursting with antioxidants. Moringa is great in smoothies and power balls. I make these Moringa power balls and keep in the freezer.

They are a great snack , the kids will love making them ( so easy !h and I use them when I am training as they have far more protein and energy than these overpriced commercial ( and artificial ) power drinks, snacks and protein powders (All of these are highly processed and protein powders are often heated to the point that the protein is denatured, which makes it nearly impossible for the body to use. They increase acidity and toxicity in the body, which can lead to inflammation and disease).

What is Moringa I hear you ask …..well this wonderful dried powder comes from the leaves of the Moringa tree which is prized in Ayurvedic medicine because it has so many health and healing properties ;

– naturally gives an energy high which is not sugar based.
– controls blood sugar ( good for diabetics ).
– it has the highest protein ratio of any plant so far identified.
– has 18 ( of the 20) amino acids he body needs.
– it is antiviral , anti inflammatory and antibacterial so supports immune function.
– lowers blood pressure.
– The Moringa tree purifies water , binds itself to toxins therefore detoxifies the body.
– binds itself to toxins.
– 7 x the vitamin C of oranges, 4 x the calcium of milk, 4 x the vitamin A of carrots, 3 x the potassium of bananas, and 2 x the protein of yogurt.
– over 90 other nutrients recorded to date.
– no adverse reactions ever recorded.
– good for auto immune conditions , diabetics, arthritis, ulcers, helps sleep, blood pressure , pain , inflammation ……have I sold you on Moringa yet !!!

INGREDIENTS
200g dried fruit ( I use sultanas , untreated or dates )
200g nuts ( I use almonds or walnuts as I prefer the benefits these give ) soak in water for 4 hours and rinse to release the physic acid
2 tablespoons Moringa *
2 tablespoons raw cacao *
1/2 teaspoon Madagascan vanilla essence *
* these are to my taste but adjust to your own. I also enjoy adding peppermint essence but use the flavours you like or leave ” naked” as the cacao will add depth of flavour too.

DIRECTIONS
Drain nuts and whizz up in a blender until well chopped.
Add the fruit , Moringa , cacao and essence and blend.
You make wish to add a little raw honey too , if so blend.
Roll into balls and pop into the freezer.
They will not freeze solid and can be eaten as a snack straight from the freezer.
Experiment and roll the balls in some desiccated coconut or dried goji berries to alter the taste and texture.

Serve + enjoy = That’s it!

Glowing Skin From Within

Hi All,

As the season is turning and summer is over, how do we keep that lovely glowing skin from summer ?
As the cold creeps in , so often does dry thirsty and flaky skin.
I thought i would write a blog to help you keep your glowing skin from within.

I am often asked about my skin and i feel the secret is to begin on the inside…with good food, good hydration and nutrition.

Skin is our largest organ and the key to dewy , youthful skin is NOT with expensive moisturisers (i use coconut oil on my skin, it doesn’t get any cheaper than this !1) however i drink 3 litres of mineral water each day. if you are not hydrated then it is going to show up on your skin. If you ever get dry skin anywhere on your body especially your feet and legs then you are dehydrated.
If you are not a fan of plain water then why not try adding organic fruit slices such as lemon, lime, orange or berry, or even herbs such as basil, mint, lemon balm or rosemary to add flavour. ALWAYS use mineral water at the very least as tap water is contaminated with oestrogen excess and flouride as well as many other harmful chemicals which will affect endocrine function.

The next key aspect is good nutrition, so ensure your diet is loaded with super-foods known to be have plentiful antioxidants! Antioxidants help our bodies to repair free radical damage. Here are some of my favourite :
~ Avocados – abundant in vitamin C,E, folates and good fat for heart health.
~ Cacao – The antioxidant power of flavonoids and essential minerals and vitamins found in cacao can support healthy heart functioning by lowering blood pressure, improving blood flow, lowering cholesterol, and reducing plaque buildup on artery walls.
~ All leafy green vegetables – Antioxidant, alkalising and oxygenises the body which is found to prevent cancers and inflammatory diseases.
~ Berries of all kinds – Another anti cancer , antioxidant source. Rich in vitamin C which is a powerhouse for cell rejuvination and amazing glowing skin.
~ Coconut oil – Medium Chain fatty acids which help you burn fat, amazing both internally and applied topically to give you youthful , wrinkle free skin and is good to the heart.
~Blue Green Algae / Liquid Chlorophyll / Wheatgrass – Abundant in antioxidants and alkalising properties.
~ Sprouted foods – this takes food to a whole new level. Sprouting seeds, beans and grains filled with enzymes and fibre which help the digestive tract to detoxify and are a great source of protein too.
~Chia Seeds – These tiny little seeds are jam packed full of nutrients and are one of the healthiest seeds on the planet. Protein , omega 3 , fibre and a rich source of magnesium.
~ Nut Butters – such as tahini , almond butter ( avoid peanut butters as peanuts are especially susceptible to a mold that produces a mycotoxin called aflatoxin).
~ Nuts and seeds (except peanuts)- rich in omega 3 , vitamin E , protein , good fats and many antioxidants they are best soaked in water before use to release nutritional inhibitors and toxic substances which can be eliminated by soaking. These inhibitors and toxic substances are enzyme inhibitors, phytates (phytic acid), polyphenols (tannins), and goitrogens. Cashews only need 2 hours , however nuts like almonds will require 6 hours.

Castor Oil Packs for Detoxing

CASTOR  OIL  PACKS  FOR DETOXING

WHAT  IS  A  CASTOR  OIL  PACK?

A   castor   oil   pack  for detoxing  is   an   external   application   of   castor   oil.   A   piece   of  (ideally organic material) flannel   is   saturated  in  castor  oil  and  applied  to  the  liver, intestines or womb (please discuss with a qualified therapist before performing womb packs)  with  a  hot  water  bottle  or  heat   pack.

Castor   oil   packs for detoxing aim to  improve   assimilations,   eliminations,   circulation   (especially   of   the   lymphatic   system)   and   breaking   down   scar  tissue.

To  Make  the  Pack:
Use  an organic material if possible flannel,  big  enough  to  cover  your  abdominal  area.
Put   it   in   a   pan   or   bowl   and   pour   castor   oil   on   it.
Saturate   the   whole   flannel,   and   leave   it   until   it   is   well saturated.
When   you   use   it,   you   want   it   saturated,   but   not   dripping.
After  each  use,  you  will  probably  need  to  add  a  little  more  castor  oil.
You  can  use  the   flannel   many   times.   When   you’re   not   using   it,   you   can   store   it   in   a   plastic   bag   in   the   refrigerator  or  cool  place.

Instructions for Pack Use :
Use  the  pack  in  the  evening,  as  you  are  resting  before  bed  or  when  you  have   quiet  time.
Spread  out  a  large  plastic  bag  on  the  bed  with  an  old  towel  on  top  so  that  the   castor   oil   won’t   leak   onto   the   bed.
Fold   a   towel   (that   you   will   use   only   for   castor  oil  packs,  because  the  oil  is  almost  impossible  to  wash  out  completely).
Warm  the  heat  pack/hot  water  bottle.
Lie  down  on  your  back  on  the  towel.
Place  the  pack  on  your  Liver, Intestines or Womb,  with  the   heating   pad   on   top   and   the   towel   on   top   of   that. It   should   be   very   warm,   but   not  so  hot  it  burns  you.
Ideally,   keep   the   pack   on   for   1   to   1   1⁄2   hours.   Although   anything   from   20   minutes  onwards  is  beneficial. Have  a  paper  towel  handy  to  wipe  the  oil  off  yourself  when  you  get  up.
You  can  perform  3  times  a  week   for optimum results.

Natural ways to boost fertility if you want to have a baby

Hi ,

There are many natural ways to boost fertility and also to support your body if you want to have a baby,  so i thought i would share some of them with you on this page.

Stress
It is so important to minimise the levels of stress in your life if you want to boost your chances of conceiving. Stress has such a huge impact on the overall hormonal system and your whole endocrine system will be struggling to release the correct hormones at the correct time when you are stressed. Slow down where you can, try meditation yoga or gentle exercise to help you.

Detox the liver
Detoxing the liver can be hugely beneficial for overall hormone balance as the liver takes on extra burden in trying to deal with imbalance of the endocrine system. A fertility cleanse (castor oil packs, see my other blog castor oil packs for detoxing for info on how to do this)  can really help support and strengthen the liver, as can milk thistle.

Fertility Massage Therapy™
Fertility Massage Therapy™ helps the body to rid itself of toxins, encourages healthy blood flow and circulation, releases and blockages and scar tissue as well as encouraging healthy communication between the pituitary, hypothalamus, and ovaries.  By massaging the ovaries and including the stress relieving benefits of massage, a healthier hormonal balance can be found in the body. See here for more information  Fertility Massage Therapy™

Visualisation Techniques
Such as Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective to allow you to release any blockages or fears that you may have around having a baby. You can look online for things that may help you or work with a fertility specialist if you need more detailed support. Fertility Enhancement Programmes designed by us have been extremely succesful.

Fertility Diet Nutrition
Being a healthy weight is important for healthy hormonal function. Being both underweight or overweight can have a huge impact on how the body produces FSH. Some of the key things to ensure you have within your diet include ……
~ Lots of leafy green (organic ) veggies to alkalise and mineralise the body,
~ EFA’s in particular omega 3 which includes nuts , seeds, oily fish (not farmed) and omega 3 rich eggs.
~ Reduce the amount of sugars, processed foods, etc in the diet.
~ Remove any dairy , meat , fish that is strictly not organic as you will be digesting growth hormones and antibiotics from those non organic source.
~ Drink only bottled mineral water as tap water is high in oestrogen from the amount of birth control pills women take. This may have a huge detrimental effect on the hormonal system.
~ Bee pollen is one of the most nutrient dense foods you can eat. It contains proteins, minerals, vitamins, immune system compounds etc.
~ Maca helps to control oestrogen in the body. Maca can increase progesterone levels (and therefor lower excess oestrogen) which are essential to carrying a healthy pregnancy.
~ Agnus Cactus (chasteberry or Vitex) encourages LH production and slightly reduces the release of FSH which has a knock on effect of increasing progesterone production and therefore the chances maintaining a successful pregnancy….in fact this is my favourite herb as it balances out lots of hormonal issues.

Tips To Boost Fertility Naturally

cropped-pregnancy.png

Hi All,

We specialise in fertility work with clients and all too often i find clients seem  confused about what they can do to boost their fertility so i thought i would write this blog to help anyone who needs some basic info to help understand the importance of good nutrition and how this can significantly boost fertility.
Here is some information which you can take on board to boost your fertility naturally.

Good Fertility foods include :
1. Eat  whole,  unprocessed  foods. Avoid all pre packaged , microwave foods.
2. Eat meats,  poultry  and  eggs  from organic pasture fed  animals and  wild  fish  (not  farmed)  and  shellfish  from  unpolluted  waters.  Never factory farmed product.
3. Reduce stress from your life, practice meditation, alternative natural therapies and yoga which will prepare your body for pregnancy.
4. Eat  full fat organic milk  products  from  pasture fed  cows,  preferably  raw  and/or  fermented,  such  as  raw   milk,  whole  yogurt,  kefir,  cultured  butter,  whole  raw  cheeses  and  fresh  and  sour  cream.   (Imported  cheeses  that  say  “milk”  or  “fresh  milk”  on  the  label  are  raw.)  Avoid  processed,  pasteurized  milk; low-fat   milk,  skim  milk,  powdered  milk etc.
5. Use  animal  fats,  especially  butter,  liberally.  Never use margarine.
6. Use  traditional  vegetable  oils  only (extra  virgin  olive  oil, sesame  oil,  coconut  oil).
7. Take  cod  liver  oil  regularly  to  provide  at  least  10,000  IU  vitamin  A  and  1,000  IU  vitamin  D  per   day.     8. Eat  fresh organic fruits  and  vegetables , if you cannot get organic then ensure the product has been left to rinse in lemon juice and water for about 15-20mins and then rinse again.
9. Use himalayan salt only as it is a good source of mineral content.
10. NEVER eat products that contain any ASPARTAME,acesulfame K, neotame, saccharin, sucralose , all of these are artificial sweetners (brand names sweet n low, Splenda, NutraSweet, and Equa etc). Use  natural  sweeteners  in  moderation,  such  as raw  honey,  maple  syrup, coconut sugar or stevia  powder.
11. Cook  only  in  stainless  steel,  cast  iron,  glass  or  good  quality  enamel. NEVER aluminium.
12. Get  plenty  of  sleep,  exercise  and  natural  light to increase your D3 which will increase your immunity.
13. Avoid  products  containing  protein  powders  as  they  usually  contain  carcinogens  formed  during   processing;  and  consumption  of  protein  without  the  cofactors  occurring  in  nature  can  lead  to   deficiencies,  especially  of  vitamin .
15. Avoid  artificial  food  additives,  especially  MSG,  hydrolyzed  vegetable  protein  and  aspartame,   which  are  neurotoxins.  Most  soups,  sauce  and  broth  mixes  and  most  commercial  condiments   contain  MSG,  even  if  not  indicated  on  the  label.
16. Avoid Soya which are  high  in  phytates,  contain  enzyme  inhibitors , and is a hormone  disrupter.

When buying food, eating local, organic or growing your own vegetables really  is the best option as it helps to decrease the exposure to pesticides and increases the nutritional value.
80% of your food should be healthy options and then 20% of the time, allow yourself treats.

Mealtimes should not be more than 4 hours between meals (or good quality snacks to keep you going between meals), to keep insulin levels even and hormonal levels balanced.
Taking time to sit down to eat and relax with food and chewing food well, until it is liquid helps with digestion.

Here at Peace of Mind Health we support and nurture clients through their wonderful fertility journey with our knowledge and experience in all aspects of Mind, Body and Energy.
