Science has shown us just how effective Meditation can be for our lives. Health, happiness, emotional balance , longer life, weight loss……The Science of Meditation begins to show us how simply  focusing on the breath can improve your overall health and wellbeing.

HOW?

1. Happiness & emotional balance.
Gaining control and deeper understanding of breath can change how we feel, and studies have shown us this can have a positive effect of up to 40 % change in feelings of anger, fear, joy, and sadness.

2. Weight Loss
So the science bit of mediation shows us how breathing practice increase levels of leptin, ( a hormone produced by fat tissue that signals the brain to inhibit hunger). So stillness can help us LOSE Weight when practiced effectively.

3. Increased energy and stamina
Just 20 minutes of good quality breathing meditation is worth 4 hours quality sleep which revitalises us and gives more wakeing stamina, energy and focus. Also longer term practice enhances sports performance as your body learns how to maximise efficiency of the lungs.

4. Longer life
Meditation and breathwork isinvolved in improving metabolism , reducing stress , balancing the CNS , and reduces inflammation and acidity within the body ( the cause of many diseases is due to either over acidity or inflammation).chronic inflammation is associated with Alzheimer’s, depression, cancer,heart diseases , auto immune disease etc.
So meditation at worst will change your life…….and may even save it !

So in summary, to experience the benefits of meditation, regular practice is necessary and as you begin it can help if you join a class whilst you practice to share the space.
If you practice at home too …..It takes only a few minutes every day…..once you get into the practice I’m sure (like me ) you will find that meditation is the best part of your day!

Emotions and your health

Emotions and your health.

Today I want to blog about how important it is for us to be aware that we cannot separate our  physical health from our emotional health.  Every single feeling you have affects your body in some way and stressful and negative emotions can really impact on your physical health.

To define stress …this is anything (whether real or imagined) which is perceived as a threat or toxic to the body and how the body reacts to it.

So how does this affect us ? ….well we are all different so for some it may affect the brain chemistry and mental health, for others it affects hormonal balance, blood sugars, immune response, digestive health etc…..

As a meta health practitioner i would always consider emotions when working with physical and mental health conditions with my clients, allopathic medicine still sees physical conditions as caused by something OUTSIDE of the body …and therefore treats this as a pathogen which can be “remedied” with drugs (masking the root) or cutting a part of the body away. As our emotions (and energy but thats another blog!) cannot be seen they are not considered to be a part of the potential for disharmony…..yet ironically G.P’s often cite “You must be stressed” …..before prescribing the pill!

Although we are all different , i often find some common links between certain emotions and pain or disharmony in certain parts f the body.
Some brief examples ; (this is not conclusive just some observations from my clinical work)
~Grief – Often manifests heart issues and when doing energy clearing work i almost always work on the heart meridian and chakras.
~Depression – Often manifests pains in the chest , lungs etc.The governing meridian , lung meridians etc often help with letting go (LU1)
~ Anxiety – Often manifests pains in the brain stem (vagus nerve) and diaphragm and benefits for anxiety are found with central meridians, heart, spleen and kidney which is why E.F.T is one of the fastest methods and i use for all clients who are anxiety sufferers.
~ Guilt – Often manifests in the large intestine and the LI , Central and Governing meridians along with lower root and sacral chakras will almost always need work

When you are feeling emotionally stressed, the body releases stress hormones like cortisol from the adrenals which prepare your body to fight or run from the stressful event.
When you are in this phase the pressure is put onto the organs…for example the heart rate may increase, the lungs need to take in more oxygen, blood flow increases, and therefore the immune system becomes temporarily suppressed, which reduces your response to fighting pathogens.
Long term you can see how this impacts on health.

Clinical trials and studies have shown us that E.F.T and other therapies such as Kinesiology etc can effectively reduce the emotional impact and energetic or biochemical impact of such emotional stresses and once the stress is reduced the body can often rebalance itself, and this facilitates long term healing.

Is the Law Of Attraction working for you ?

Is the Law Of Attraction working for you ?

You may have heard about the Law Of Attraction , it became rather popular with the commercial books and films such as “The Secret “. Many people mis-took the message of “abundance” from these teachings and i often work with people to help them gain insights into what the L.O.A is REALLY about…..here are some key factors as to why the L.O.A may not be “working” for you……

~ You are not present in the abundance you already have……

What this means is that if you’re NOT accepting what you’re already getting in life and all that you be then you are already giving out the message of lack or less the to the universe……and guess what…..you will never be able to open up further abundance with this programme running because the universe only gives you what you need (not what you want want want!) in the moment.

~ You are waiting for it to show up…..
What this means is that you are operating from an ego state and also you are putting out to the universe lack of belief….and guess what…the universe fulfils that for you! You have turned off the flow with that anticipation and expectation and also the universe doesn’t register time as we do so you set things into a box (conclusion) and the universe is creative / creation. As you turn of your own creative flow you start to worry about when and how things are going to manifest so you actually tune your frequency to more worrying and planning. Also your lack of belief is a subconscious negative belief that you are creating which brings the negative into manifestation rather than the opposite!

~ You become fixed into an outcome , therefore you sabotage the manifestation……
What this means is that you get your head in the way of the manifestation and expect it to show up in the way your head plans it….for example ….if you want to manifest more money in your life then you may expect to win the lottery or have a windfall of luck….BUT the universe has decided how that more money manifestation is going to arrive. So you find suddenly that you are offered jobs (that may seem inappropriate) or more work or notice new people showing up in your life.
You may have dismissed the manifestation in creation BECAUSE you had such a fixed point of view about HOW the money should manifest and therefore the L.O.A potential was unfulfilled. The universe is creative and i aligning circumstances through which you are capable of acting based on where you are at any time. The universe is actually providing all of the right circumstances and all you have to do is show up and be brave enough to walk the walk!

~ Your thoughts and actions are not aligned…..
What this means is that most people feel that L.O.A isn’t working for them but they don’t participate (as mentioned above) . The L.O.A is a partnership …..yes you and the universe need to work together. If you believe that the L.O.A is just about you thinking something and then it “magically” showing up …hmmmmm! It isn’t a substitute for direct action and involvement. YOU need to take the steps and if you are not taking action on a daily basis then your reality cannot and will not shift.

The L.O.A is ALWAYS working …..you are ALWAYS manifesting…..at EVERY moment , its just whether you are infesting positively , with ease , joy and flow or making it a struggle, negatively and hardship. So be aware of how your life journey manifests now.
Do you have more good or bad “luck” ?
Do you feel like things show up for you or is it a struggle ?
Do you find yourself saying “why me ?”
Do you have awareness of particular numbers, patterns or sequences that follow 369 , 11:11, 1234 etc or in decreasing numbers such as 4321, 532 etc ?
Do you feel “abundant” in your current life or “lacking” somewhat ?

Some key elements that can help you with Law of Attraction include removing what i call “distractor implants” from your life. I have listed some of these below :

Overthinking and over planning.
Trying too hard  to get what you want.
Complaining about the things you do not have or the bad things you’ve manifested.
Worrying about the future.
Trying too hard to fit in with others.
Attending events and gatherings you don’t really want to attend.
Listening to angry and negatively charged music.
Spending too much time with toxic and  negative people.
Blaming and judging other people.
Being fixed and conclusive with outcomes.
Regretting the past.
Explaining yourself to others , seeing yourself as less than or making excuses for your actions.

” Who do you become when things don’t go your way ?”

” Who do you become when things don’t go your way ?”

I find this question quite powerful and thought provoking , giving me great insight into what in my life i need to focus on. Through our life experiences we will all have a different story and respond differently , if the answer to this question gives you an insight into an area of your life that you would like to work on or improve then read on!

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

How we respond to difficult situations is a choice. We can choose to react with emotional / behavioural negativity (i.e. anger, frustration, overwhelming sadness, giving up, a feeling of unjustness with the world , stubbornness, using rituals as a coping mechanism etc) , or other forms of more physical negativity (i.e lashing out, using drugs , alcohol or using any other negative habit or ritual as a coping mechanism )

These days , I try to chose to respond to it holistically, by surrendering to the universe and by letting go of control and trusting what the universe brings to me.

I am not saying this is always easy , or that i always get it right. However my awareness is always here and my awareness brings with it the fabulous insight that it is ALWAYS my actions that are my choice.

When things don’t go my way, or something difficult or unexpected shows up in my life, i try to take a step back, this allows me to have a clearer viewpoint of the whole picture, and decide how i would like to respond to the situation.

Some of the tools and awareness that have helped me overcome difficult challenges and experiences within my own life are listed here…….i hope you find them insightful and helpful. I like to have these things written down in a journal , as when things do not go my way i then have a “go to” place which allows me to think and feel differently about the situation or experience.

Be CURIOUS , when you conclude something you are making a judgement about how it will end….therefore you are limiting your options. When you keep yourself in the questioning of the situation then you keep your perspective and therefore options open to potentials and possibilities.

Be BRAVE, it can be quite frightening and overwhelming when things do not go your way. Remember this is a phase of your life, not your whole life. Remind yourself that you have had other situations in your life that felt like there was no way out, no solution etc. ….and you survived it then.  Ride those initial feelings out and you will find a way forward , a plan or a solution.

Be OPEN to things being different to how you expected and to new experiences. It serves no purpose to hold on to past , what could have been, should have been, and comparisons  etc because it can make us feel bitter , unhappy and resentful. Accept the situation for what it is , let go of judgement , whys etc and accept yourself. We are all doing the best we can.

Be KIND to yourself.  Accept your feelings, its ok not to feel ok or to feel angry etc. We need to experience a full range of emotions. Its healthy and you are being honest and true to yourself. Even though the situation or  life hasn’t turned out the way you had planned, it doesn’t mean you failed. Stop judging yourself.  Forgive yourself if you need to , TO HELP YOU MOVE FORWARD.

Be in your HEART not in your head. Make decisions and take actions from the heart not the head. The head tries to rationalise and  make sense of what “should” happen  the heart feels what is right. It may not be logical at all but when you take action from the heart your intuition is working and it is exceptionally powerful. When i work from my heart i am ALWAYS guided on the right path. When things are not going my way and i reflect i am ALWAYS in my head and not in my heart.

Castor Oil Packs for Detoxing

CASTOR  OIL  PACKS  FOR DETOXING

WHAT  IS  A  CASTOR  OIL  PACK?

A   castor   oil   pack  for detoxing  is   an   external   application   of   castor   oil.   A   piece   of  (ideally organic material) flannel   is   saturated  in  castor  oil  and  applied  to  the  liver, intestines or womb (please discuss with a qualified therapist before performing womb packs)  with  a  hot  water  bottle  or  heat   pack.

Castor   oil   packs for detoxing aim to  improve   assimilations,   eliminations,   circulation   (especially   of   the   lymphatic   system)   and   breaking   down   scar  tissue.

To  Make  the  Pack:
Use  an organic material if possible flannel,  big  enough  to  cover  your  abdominal  area.
Put   it   in   a   pan   or   bowl   and   pour   castor   oil   on   it.
Saturate   the   whole   flannel,   and   leave   it   until   it   is   well saturated.
When   you   use   it,   you   want   it   saturated,   but   not   dripping.
After  each  use,  you  will  probably  need  to  add  a  little  more  castor  oil.
You  can  use  the   flannel   many   times.   When   you’re   not   using   it,   you   can   store   it   in   a   plastic   bag   in   the   refrigerator  or  cool  place.

Instructions for Pack Use :
Use  the  pack  in  the  evening,  as  you  are  resting  before  bed  or  when  you  have   quiet  time.
Spread  out  a  large  plastic  bag  on  the  bed  with  an  old  towel  on  top  so  that  the   castor   oil   won’t   leak   onto   the   bed.
Fold   a   towel   (that   you   will   use   only   for   castor  oil  packs,  because  the  oil  is  almost  impossible  to  wash  out  completely).
Warm  the  heat  pack/hot  water  bottle.
Lie  down  on  your  back  on  the  towel.
Place  the  pack  on  your  Liver, Intestines or Womb,  with  the   heating   pad   on   top   and   the   towel   on   top   of   that. It   should   be   very   warm,   but   not  so  hot  it  burns  you.
Ideally,   keep   the   pack   on   for   1   to   1   1⁄2   hours.   Although   anything   from   20   minutes  onwards  is  beneficial. Have  a  paper  towel  handy  to  wipe  the  oil  off  yourself  when  you  get  up.
You  can  perform  3  times  a  week   for optimum results.

Anxiety, Depression and Mindfulness

Hi All,

Today i thought i would write a little blog about Anxiety, Depression and Mindfulness……

What are intrusive thoughts?

I would describe Intrusive thoughts as any unpleasant ideas,  thoughts, images etc that come into our awareness that we continually loop as a thought pattern within our minds.

Most of use will experience intrusive thoughts but when someone is suffering with anxiety, depression , repressed trauma , OCD etc these loop cycles tend to become overwhelming.

They are a common symptom in those with anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD; however, the truth is most people experience intrusive thoughts from time to time. Intrusive thought patterns are usually negative emotions such as anger, aggression, overwhelming impulses to “act out…ie suicide, rituals , sexual fantasies etc ”  and whilst these thoughts are rarely actioned,  they are often considered “inappropriate” by the person thinking them.

The end result is often then feelings of unworthiness, guilt, shame and inner criticism of oneself even though they will not have actually done anything wrong.

Some things that you may find useful to consider are : –

~ Accept your thoughts and where you are in this moment….without judgement of what is preconceived as a “right ” or a “wrong ” . The first step toward letting go of our negative thoughts is by accepting them. …….

EVEN THOUGH ( I HAVE THIS ..xxxxxx … THOUGHT ) I DEEPLY AND COMPLETELY ACCEPT MYSELF AND WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW.  It is a pointless activity to pretend that we don’t have intrusive or negative thoughts every now and then. And by trying to run away from these thoughts we are only deluding ourselves and in fact by running and denying these thoughts and feelings we actually fuel their strength and power over us!

The purpose of accepting where we are RIGHT NOW is to allow us to produce new and more useful ways to respond to our circumstances.

Remember, just because you accept the thought doesn’t mean you need to act on it.

~Watch your thoughts without JUDGING your thoughts. 

We shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves for thinking bizarre and spontaneous things once and awhile. Who’s reality did you buy into when you decided that your thoughts …or having thoughts was a “wrongness ?”   ….What if your “wrongness” was ok , just the way it is ? When did you decide that someone else’s perception of reality (and judgements ) were “right” ?

EVEN THOUGH ( I AM JUDGING MYSELF RIGHT NOW , AND ITS MAKING ME ANXIOUS / DEPRESSED ) I DEEPLY AND COMPLETELY LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF AND WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW.

It’s common for negative thoughts to be followed by feelings of guilt /  shame, but tallow yourself to understand that there is nothing to feel guilty over. After you accept your thoughts, try to watch them in a non-judgmental awareness. Don’t necessarily react to them or judge them as “good” or “bad.” Just sit back and passively watch them as if you were watching a movie.

~ Know that eventually these thoughts will pass. 

If you can observe these thoughts without judgment , you will begin to  notice that they will start to diminish. Be patient. Override the urge to participate in these thoughts. OBSERVE!

EVEN THOUGH THESE THOUGHTS CAN BE OVERWHELMING FOR ME, I AM CHOOSING TO ALLOW MYSELF  NEW POSSIBILITIES AND I DEEPLY AND COMPLETELY LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF FOR SHOWING ME HOW. 

It’s not always easy to disengage , let go of judgement and observe intrusive thoughts, but with practice it is possible to  learn how to more easily let go of them. Once we learn how to do this, they will have a lot less influence over your mental well-being

WHAT IF ….anything were possible ? What would you choose ?

The universe is not trying to work against you, in fact its the opposite …we just spend so much time banging our heads up against a metaphorical brick wall that we don’t stop to listen.

We spend our time caught up with the CONCLUSION …trying to figure it all out with all the answers that we are not listening to whats being put out there and we block ourselves from creating (or some people call it manifesting).

Here are some questions that may help you come unstuck from that viewpoint you are stuck in right now ……..

Q) If we chose to choose that which was working for us…..would we choose to create more ?

Q) If you wanted to create your perfect reality….would it be where you are now ?

Q) How can it be better than this ?

Q) What if …….everything i had based my reality on was not solid (or fixed) ?

Q) What would you choose to create if you were not fixed into your preconceived idea of what your reality “should” be ?

Q) When things go wrong do you try to ESCAPE or CREATE ?

If you are looking for a way to ESCAPE then you are in fact not coming from a place where you allow yourself to CREATE !!!

The Law of Attraction…

The Law of Attraction…

What does this mean ? …….

Well its really simple….What you focus on determines what you attract into your life.

So if you feel like a victim of circumstances and are attracting problem after problem into your life or never seem to get to where you want to be, then you are not ‘solution focussed’ . As you are not solution focussed, the law of attraction actually manifests EVEN MORE of this negative stuff into your life.

It sounds simple enough right ? ….I know what you are thinking ….I try to think positively so why isnt my life changing then?

Negative and positive thinking is NOT a black and white issue. Every experience we have leads us to form beliefs or decisions and the ones that we formed very early in life are our “roots” or core beliefs. You will have then layered onto these belief systems, at various points within your life, which will now be why you are possibly unable to make that switch of positivity and focus on the longer term.

Law of Attraction – Top Tips:

1. The law of clarity and positivity
This is where the power of the subconscious connects to the universe and as you focus on what you DO want, you begin that manifestation. As you focus on the positive aspects you begin that cycle . When we focus on what we DONT want we will also in turn bring more of this into our lives too as the universe cannot distinguish negative from positive …it just responds to action. As you bring all of your senses into this you are creating a clear image, feeling, colour, experience for the universe to pull towards.

2. The Law of Flow
Do not try to over control the outcome of situations. If you are trying to over control the outcome then you are in a place of fear….fear = tension and tension means lack. When you are out of your head and in your heart this is where flow really manifests.

3. The law of plenty
If you are trying to build up ‘plenty’ of anything…your brand, business, relationships, joy etc…..it is important that we truly believe that there is enough. For example if you run your business by talking down other businesses then this comes from a place of fear …fear = lack and you will always be left lacking.

10 Tips for good foot health

10 Tips for good foot health

Some common complaints to be aware of to ensure that your feet are in good health include : –

1. Heel Pain – commonly this can be caused by  plantar fasciitis, inflammation at the point  where the ligament attaches to the bone. The pain may be sharpest when you first wake up and put pressure on the foot. Other causes of heel pain include  poor fitting footwear, tendonitis, arthritis, heel or bone spurs.

2. Cold Feet – this may have more insights into your overall health than you initially think. Cold feet is often because of poor blood flow which is a circulatory problem which can be a result of  smoking, high or low blood pressure, or heart disease. Also this can be a clue to Diabetes as nerve damage of uncontrolled diabetes can also make your feet cold. Other possible causes include hypothyroidism and anemia.

3. Pain in the Big Toe – The most common cause of this is Gout which gives sudden pain in the big toe joint, along with redness and swelling. Osteoarthritis also causes pain and swelling and rigid joints.
