A Day in Heaven

To behold the lakes in Devon—
a paradise, serene and still.
Glass-like waters stretch before me,
cradling the sky’s reflection
in soft ripples and silken light.

Majestic mirror carp glide below,
like ancient secrets in motion—
graceful, deep, unhurried.
The quiet pulse of the wild.

Heathers gather at the water’s edge,
cushioning the land in violet whispers.
Fish leap and play—
a sudden splash, a joyful arc—
as if to greet the day.

The trees, ever watchful,
sway in time with the breath of the Earth.
Their leaves sing lullabies
that only the still-hearted hear.

What a way to spend a day—
this quiet joy, this gentle way.
No rush, no noise,
only presence.

This feels like my kind of heaven.
A Garden of Eden,
untouched,
yet touching me completely.

Nature wraps her arms around me.
Feather and fin,
song and silence.
Blue tits flit through branches
while finches chase the breeze—
playful sparks of life
dancing above the lake’s mirror.

And I?
I am here.
Not merely as a guest,
but as part of it all.

Alive.
Grateful.
Home.
