Clarity

I find it helpful to explore the qualities of specific minds.
Today, I’ve been reflecting on clarity.

We often seek clarity in life—clarity in relationships, decisions, or direction.
But what is clarity of mind?

Clarity of mind is a type of focused concentration,
yet unlike a forceful or rigid focus,
true clarity does not cling or grasp.
That kind of strained attention belongs to the ego mind—
it narrows, tightens, and controls.

In contrast, clarity arises from a spacious awareness.
It is formless, fluid, and open—
a mind resting single-pointedly on its object
without tension.

Clarity begins with mindfulness.
When we start to train our mind through mindfulness,
we gently learn to return again and again
to the object of our attention.

Over time, this returning becomes more stable—more natural.
As mindfulness deepens,
we begin to hold our awareness effortlessly.
And it’s in this sustained presence
that the true clarity of the mind reveals itself—
unobstructed, luminous, and still.

This clarity is not something we chase—
it’s something we remember.
A returning home to the unclouded nature of our being.
