Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy is a powerful, body-based approach to healing trauma, emotional overwhelm, and nervous system dysregulation. Unlike traditional talk therapies that work through the mind, somatic work allows us to access the wisdom of the body — where our deepest wounds, patterns, and healing potentials live.
At Peace Of Mind Health, Somatic Therapy offers a gentle, supportive space to help you reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system, and release stored trauma and emotional tension — restoring your sense of safety, aliveness, and self-trust.
What Is Somatic Therapy? the body keeps the score
“Soma” means “the body in its wholeness.” Somatic Therapy recognises that trauma, stress, and emotional experiences aren’t just stored in our thoughts — they live in our tissues, muscles, breath, and nervous system responses.
In Somatic Therapy, we work with physical sensations, movement, breath, and awareness to gently bring the body back into balance. This helps release what’s been stuck and allows you to access calm, clarity, and emotional resilience in a way that feels safe and natural.
What Can Somatic Therapy Help With?
- Healing from trauma (recent or early-life)
- Anxiety, panic, or chronic stress
- Emotional overwhelm or numbness
- Burnout, fatigue, or “shut down” patterns
- PTSD or complex trauma (CPTSD)
- Disconnection from the body or emotions
- Self-esteem, boundaries, or inner-child work
- Chronic pain or tension linked to emotional holding
- Restoring calm, confidence, and self-regulation
What Happens During a Somatic Therapy Session?
Each session is tailored to your needs and readiness. We may begin with a grounding conversation to understand what you’re experiencing. Then, we gently guide your attention to the body — exploring sensations, breath, posture, or tension with curiosity and compassion.
Sessions might include:
- Body-based mindfulness and awareness
- Guided breathwork or grounding practices
- Movement to release stuck energy
- Exploring “felt sense” and nervous system responses
- Supporting emotional expression through the body
- Inner child or parts work (if desired)
You are always in control. This work is slow, safe, and respectful of your boundaries. It’s not about “fixing” you — it’s about helping your body remember how to feel safe, regulated, and whole again.
Who Is Somatic Therapy For?
Somatic Therapy is suitable for anyone seeking a deeper connection to their body, emotions, and healing journey — especially if you’ve struggled to shift patterns through talk-based approaches alone. It’s ideal for those recovering from trauma, feeling chronically anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or shut down.
This is gentle but powerful work for those ready to meet themselves more deeply and with compassion.
How Will I Feel Afterwards?
You may feel lighter, calmer, more present, or spacious after a session. Sometimes you may notice emotional release, tiredness, or new insights emerging as the body integrates the changes. This is all part of the healing process — and I will guide you with aftercare tools to continue that support between sessions.
Reconnect with Your Body, Reclaim Your Power
Your body holds your stories — and your healing. Somatic Therapy gives you a way back home to yourself. When we listen to the body, we invite transformation from within.
Are you ready to feel safe, whole, and alive in your body again?

General Treatment Aftercare Advice
- Drink plenty of water to support integration and release.
- Rest if needed — your body may be processing deeply.
- Be gentle with yourself emotionally and physically.
- Avoid stimulants (like alcohol or caffeine) for at least 24 hours.
- Journaling or stillness can help you notice insights or shifts.
Sometimes you may feel emotional, tired, or tender after a session. These are healthy signs of nervous system rebalancing and emotional release. If anything feels intense, please reach out or seek medical support where necessary.
Healing happens in presence. Your body is not the problem — it’s the place the healing lives.
